Ndegwa Njiru's Remark After Opposition Candidates' By-election Defeats Raises Questions

Saboti Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi, has bashed High Court advocate, Ndegwa Njiru, over his response to the united opposition's defeat in yesterday's by-elections around the country.

This is after Njiru, a close ally of DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, expressed his doubt about the election results, announcing that they will be moving to court to seek redress.

Amisi, however, has grown suspicious of him, wondering why he never campaigned for the opposition candidates, and waited until their defeat to seize the moment.

The ODM lawmaker has branded Njiru an opportunist out to make a kill through legal representation rather than helping candidates win, urging opposition candidates to be careful with him.

"Surely kiongozi, you failed to go to the ground to campaign now you want to campaign in court. Aspirants must avoid walking with lawyers who keep on taking them to court instead of the ballot," he says on X.

This is after the opposition failed to secure parliamentary by-election weeks of campaigning against UDA and ODM candidates, who are now in the same camp.

The mini polls were considered the indicator of how things might go in the 2027 general election, especially now that united opposition politicians are out to block President William Ruto's reelection.

Ruto has repeatedly dismissed the thought that he can be rendered a single term President, terming himself a popular politician who Kenyans are still eager to have around.

He is also banking on his development projects, including the affordable housing program, to convince Kenyans to hand him another term.
