Former Cabinet Secretary (CS) who was in charge of the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) during the Jubilee administration has stirred up controversy, after disclosing to the public key directive by President William Ruto that he would have scrapped off, if he had the chance to serve as the country's top in command.
While he was addressing a delegation of the Maasai people on Friday 12th December 2025, Fred Matiangi who has seemingly upped his quest for Presidency in 2027 publicly declared that had he been given the chance to serve in the capacity of the President, he would immediately abolish the allocation of large acres of land to the Maasai people, done by William Ruto in May.
"This is not something that I would even hesitate. If I had the opportunity, I would cancel all these controversial allocations of land." Fred Matiang'i indicated while making his remarks.
As per his argument, the directive even though was good for the Maa people, only created an avenue for some individuals to selfishly benefit themselves by grabbing large tracts of land.
Vividly recalled by many, back in the month of May 2025, President William Ruto had disclosed that his Kenya Kwanza government had purchased 6,000 acres of land, which he claimed would be allocated to the residents of Narok.
The land which Ruto gave to the Maa people had been at the tussle of long-standing legal battles in the corridors of law and protests by the police.
