Speaking during a televised interview on Monday night, Njiru clarified that his loyalty lies with the broader opposition movement rather than any single political figure.
He stated that his political home has always been the Wiper Patriotic Front, a party he believes represents the values he stands for.
Njiru emphasized that he is committed to the ideals of the United Opposition. He noted that his support for any presidential candidate in the 2027 elections will depend on the individual’s commitment to key principles such as the rule of law, respect for institutions, constitutionalism, accountability, equity and social justice.
Although he represented Gachagua during the former deputy president’s impeachment trial, Njiru maintained that his professional role did not necessarily translate to political allegiance. Before the impeachment process, the lawyer was known for openly criticizing Gachagua on his social media platforms.
However, the two later worked closely during the impeachment hearings and have since appeared together in various opposition forums.
Despite this working relationship, Njiru insists that his political alignment remains with Kalonzo Musyoka.
He believes Kalonzo offers a reliable and steady leadership style that can challenge President William Ruto in the next general election.
In his view, the country needs leadership that restores trust in public institutions and promotes fairness in governance.
