Ex MP: Why Kalonzo corrected Ruto’s 50-year claim, mocked roads he didn’t build, looked foolish

Former Nyeri Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu took to his social media accounts on Tuesday December 16 2025 to question recent political statements with sharp sarcasm.

Wambugu wondered aloud why Kalonzo Musyoka thought it was smart to correct President William Ruto’s dramatic fifty year challenge in public discourse without clear political benefit.

He further questioned why Kalonzo would voluntarily downgrade the claim to forty years thereby gifting rivals ammunition before campaigns even warmed up unnecessarily publicly prematurely again.

According to Wambugu such corrections only weaken opposition messaging by validating government narratives rather than challenging them with alternative facts and forward looking ideas effectively today.

He also poked holes in Kalonzo’s comments about roads development arguing the former vice president spoke about infrastructure he neither initiated nor delivered personally historically credibly.

Wambugu suggested that Kenyans remember records clearly and political nostalgia cannot replace tangible projects visible across counties and constituencies during recent administrations nationally today anymore period.

By inserting himself into debates this early Kalonzo appeared reactive defensive and unprepared for the rhetorical endurance demanded by a long campaign season ahead nationally soon.

Wambugu mockingly observed that such missteps make Kalonzo look like a joker long before the real political game has even begun formally countrywide intensifies seriously today.

The former legislator implied that seasoned politicians should conserve their punches choosing battles wisely instead of volunteering self inflicted damage publicly repeatedly unnecessarily early on stage.

His post concluded with a warning that Kenyan politics rewards discipline patience and strategy not impulsive corrections that hand opponents easy victories cheaply prematurely publicly again.
