Shortly after the ODM Party held celebrations marking its 20th year since formation, the new party leader Oburu Oginga embarked on an abrupt visit/tour to Dubai.
Though family members stated that Oburu took the political break to "cool off", less was shared concerning the main reason why he was forced to the take the break abruptly.
Well, insiders have leaked the intrigues behind Oburu's Dubai tour just a day after marking the ODM @20 anniversary.
According to insiders, talks concerning the BroadBased deal and a possible coalition agreement with UDA boiled up so hot during the celebrations that the ODM leader had to 'escape' the heat.
Allegedly, during the celebrations, a team led by Siaya county governor James Orengo and senator Otiende Amollo pushed Oburu to make the relationship with the UDA party official; that is, put the coalition agreement in writing and legalize it.
Orengo and Senator Otiende Amollo insisted that the agreement, if any, must be transferred from "word of mouth" to an enforceable written agreement legally recognized and binding.
Faced with uncertainty and mounting pressure, Oburu allegedly decided to take a short sabbatical leave from the political scene .He chose Dubai as his political holiday destination.
Unfortunately, his escape from the political scene was cut short by the death of his dear sister Beryl. Oburu flew back.
When he came back, he reignited talk of supporting president William Ruto in 2027. Amollo and Orengo want him to officially strike and sign a coalition deal with UDA before the party moves forward.
