List of ODM Leaders Who Have Already Received Deposit to Sell Party To Ruto as Claimed By Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused President William Ruto of “buying” the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party through key leaders, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.

Speaking at the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) headquarters in Nairobi on Wednesday, Gachagua claimed that Junet and Wanga had already received a down payment from President Ruto in what he described as a deliberate sale of ODM.

“Those brokers have sold ODM,” Gachagua said, pointing out that Junet’s absence during the funeral of ODM founder Raila Odinga was allegedly intentional, suggesting he stayed behind to arrange the deal.

Gachagua expressed concern over the weakening of ODM, noting that the party’s historical strongholds are under threat.

He highlighted recent DCP victories in Narok Town and Kiza East, while Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) claimed the Purko Ward seat. “ODM is dead.

Ruto has destroyed ODM, and we are very saddened,” he said.

The former deputy president also cautioned ODM members against allowing what he termed a “sale,” warning it could reduce the party to a minority confined to Luo Nyanza.

“If you allow ODM to be sold to Ruto by Junet and Wanga, you will remain a minority party,” Gachagua warned.

In a related development, Gachagua hinted at supporting Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino in the 2027 elections if they are pushed out of ODM.

He welcomed them to DCP, assuring them that the party would provide platforms for their political ambitions.

He also suggested that if they feel uncomfortable in DCP, they could consider joining Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party.

Gachagua’s allegations mark a fresh political storm in Kenya, raising questions about ODM’s internal cohesion and the influence of UDA in reshaping opposition politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
