The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has unveiled new information in the sudden death of veteran broadcaster and KBC Mayienga FM boss Festus Amimo.
The update has brought fresh attention to the final moments of the respected journalist, who died inside a hotel room in Nairobi.
According to a DCI report, the woman who was with Amimo at the lodging was the one who raised the alarm after he collapsed during their private moments inside the room.
Police say the woman alerted hotel staff when Amimo suddenly became unresponsive.
Hotel security officers rushed to the room and found the media figure lying still on the floor.
Medics were called in, but they said the broadcaster was already dead by the time they arrived.
His body was later taken to the City Mortuary as part of the formal procedure.
Investigators say they are now piecing together the events that led to Amimo’s final moments.
Detectives have interviewed the woman who was with him and are reviewing statements from hotel workers who responded to the emergency.
Police say the cause of death will be confirmed once a full autopsy is completed.
Medical experts are expected to examine whether Amimo had underlying health issues or if other factors played a role in his sudden collapse.
The death of Amimo has drawn sympathy from colleagues in the media industry who describe him as a skilled presenter and a mentor to many young journalists.
His family is awaiting answers as investigations continue.
Authorities have urged the public to allow detectives to complete their work as the search for the truth behind the journalist’s final moments goes on.
